Delicious Danone Yogurt Nutri Pots

Who says healthy food cannot be tasty food? Lets give yogurt a chance this time. Yoghurt is full for calcium and loaded with protein. It is also beneficial for Gut health and is good for lactose intolerant people. This new Greek Yogurt launched by DanoneIndia has 87% more protein than regular yogurts, introduced in mango and blueberry variants. At the  product launch Chef Varun Imandar churned up three healthy recipes that were delicious, the instant Parfait left me aghast and motivated to try something  of my own.   

It was now time to churn up a new recipe that fills you with great taste while being high in nutrient value.
Danone Nutri Pots ( A yogurt based sprouts and strawberry filled puri)

The basic Ingredients

This recipe will serve up two plates of Yogurt Nutri pots of 6 puris each


Ingredients

1 cup of sprouts (boiled with salt, add pinch of pepper)
1 cup chopped strawberry
1 tub Blueberry Greek Yogurt (80 grams)
20  Puffed puris (Pani puri available in market)
1 tsp Honey
A dash or lime.

Method 

1. Mix the sprouts, chopped strawberries, honey and lime in a bowl.
2. Add the yogurt and give it a good mix.
3. Crack the top of the puri and full in the yogurt mixture.
4. Garnish with cut strawberries.

Tip- Serve it chilled and immediately. Soggy puris wont be all that enjoyable. With the mango season round the corner, I am going to try the Mango Greek Yogurt with mango pieces. I think this is gonna be a runaway hit for sure.

Wonder combination of Honey and Cinnamon

The combination of honey and cinnamon has been used for centuries in both traditional Chinese and Ayurveda, a system of healing founded 5000 years ago in India. The two ingredients with unique healing abilities have a long history as a home remedy. Cinnamon is one of the oldest spices known to mankind and honey’s popularity has continued throughout history

Honey and cinnamon are both nutritious foods and contain vitamins and minerals that help to maintain good health. They contain nutrients which include water, protein, fiber, sugars and various vitamins and minerals. Cinnamon also contains a very low level of fat.

1) HEART DISEASES: Apply honey and cinnamon powder on bread instead of using jam or butter and eat it regularly for breakfast. It is believed that in the long run, this can help prevent blockages in blood vessels, heart attacks and cholesterol.

2) ARTHRITIS: Apply a paste made of the two ingredients on the affected part of the body and massage slowly. Drinking tea with honey and cinnamon daily can also help relieve pain and stiffness in the joints.

3) HAIR LOSS: Apply a paste of hot olive oil, a tablespoon of honey, a teaspoon of cinnamon powder before bath, leave it for 15 min and wash.

4) BLADDER INFECTIONS: Mix a teaspoon of cinnamon powder and half a teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink. This can help destroy the bacteria in the urinary system.

5) CHOLESTEROL: Add honey to cinnamon powder mixed in boiled water or green tea and drink.

6) COLDS: Make a glass of lukewarm honey water mixed with a pinch of cinnamon powder to help boost your immune system during the cold season. It is also helpful in clearing the sinuses.

7) INDIGESTION: Cinnamon powder sprinkled on a spoonful of honey taken before food relieves acidity and prevents indigestion.

8) LONGEVITY: Regularly take tea made with honey and a little cinnamon powder to strengthen your immune system and protect your body from viral and bacterial attacks.

9) PIMPLES: Mix honey with cinnamon powder and apply paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash away the next morning.

10) BAD BREATH: Gargle with honey and cinnamon powder mixed in warm water so that breath stays fresh throughout the day.

TO LOSE WEIGHT: To reduce weight, daily drink a mixture of a teaspoon of honey with half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder boiled in water with an empty stomach in the morning about half an hour before breakfast.

You may think that honey may have a negative effect when using it for weight loss. However, it has a healthier glycemic index than regular white sugar. Therefore, a combination of these two main ingredients can help you drop some pounds.

Cinnamon is a powerful antioxidant and rich in manganese, fiber, calcium and iron which provides all the necessary ingredients to lose weight and also cleanse the colon and digestive system to clear the fat content in the body. Improving one’s Lifestyle

Improving your lifestyle can seem like an impossibly lofty goal. Changing everything about your life all at once is probably not realistic, but there are lots of small changes you can make to improve your physical, emotional, and mental well-being, and to enjoy your life more. Start small by making one or two changes at a time. Before you know it, you’ll have the lifestyle you’ve always wanted! One needs to

1. Eat healthy- A balanced diet is very important. Have a cheat day once in a way like I do to give in to your cravings

2. Exercise in some form is important- Run, swim or even yoga will prove beneficial

3. Reduce stress- Acceptance of the problem, reduces stress by 50%. Exercising also help reduce stress

4. Take a positive outlook towards life- Sometimes it good to laugh at yourself too.

5. Setting goals and targets for ourselves – If there is something you want to achieve, it’s a great idea to set goals for yourself.

6. Come up with motivational Mantras- Try something new, just GO…GO..GO

Easier said than done, one has to take it in their stride and overcome difficulties and obstacles that come our way and continue ahead with positivity and conviction.

Healthy Happy Children

When we say Health is wealth how many of us actually understand the deeper meaning behind it. Moreover I love quoting it when it comes to children’s health issues. Even with a small bank account, the one who is healthy and happy finds himself with great wealth.
Hence it is so important that our children grow up to be healthy in every way. Being a pre school teacher for the past 25 years, I have seen over thousand children grow in time. Each child is beautiful  and different from each other,  special and incomparable. I have often noticed some kids remain absent at home having constant cough and cold. Parents are so tensed when kids fall sick.
I always tell parents to provide children with a a positive happy environment supported by good nutrition and healthy food.

Giving a balanced nutritious diet to their children should be the top priority for parents. Healthful eating is a very important factor in a parent’s diet and the diet of children and healthful eating affects all of our personal well-being. There are many wonderful benefits from healthful eating, such as improved health and feeling much better about oneself. Eating healthfully doesn’t mean you have to give up all of your favourite food items. Eating healthfully means a well-balanced diet, full of nutritious foods and drinks, and it means limiting the amount of fat, sugar and carbohydrates you consume daily and also substituting it for healthier choices. Therefore, I believe healthful eating should begin in children to enrich them with healthier lives, escaping the darkness of diseases and deadly health problems.This aids in overall mental and physical growth of the child.

As a teacher I stress on healthy snacks in class and personally take rounds during snack time to check tiffin boxes of kids. I discourage junk food and encourage fruit n home cooked wholesome food. Milk and milk supplements taken in early years is a boon to bones, teeth and skin of young children. On open days i tell parents to take their children out in parks n gardens, playing outdoors and getting their dose of vitamin D. Activities that we can encourage are playing with them, throwing around a football or playing a game of basketball. There are many outdoor and indoor activities to consider, such as taking a family walk in the neighborhood or gym or playing a simple game like Hide and seak. Activities should be fun and interesting so children will continue to be interested in them. Therefore, never keep doing the same activities; mix them up at times.
